Materials & Care
Gold, Rose Gold and Silver Plated
Gold, Rose Gold and Silver plated brass: Our jewels have a brass base at their core, with a thick plate of shiny 14k gold, 14k rose-gold or rhodium silver on top, this material allows us to design beautiful styles without the premium price tag!
Sterling Silver & Gold Vermeil
Sterling Silver and Gold Vermeil: Our premium pieces are made from 925 sterling silver or Gold Vermeil. (Gold vermeil is a super thick gold plating over sterling silver.)
We use Cubic Zirconia and Synthetic Opal stones in our embellished designs. These sparkly gems are affordable, durable and dazzling!
Made with hypo-allergenic materials, our jewellery has a 1 micron thick plating and a special e-coating to prevent scratches, ensuring your jewels will continue to shine for longer.
It’s important to remember that plated brass may fade over time if not cared for correctly. But don’t despair, we have a few easy tips to ensure your jewels the longevity they deserve, so you can keep wearing them time and time again.
Give your pieces some love! For a nice polished finish, use a soft cloth or eyeglasses cleaning cloth to gently buff away any dirt. (Don't use water or chemicals)
- KEEP AWAY FROM WATER: Sweat, water and cosmetics are a no-go for your jewellery! Exposing your jewels to these elements will cause them to tarnish, make sure you remove your pieces before exercising, swimming or showering.
- AVOID COSMETICS: Avoid using creams or spraying perfume directly onto your jewels, this will accelerate the tarnishing process. When using perfume, we advise applying your scent first, and putting on your jewels later as the last step before you go out.
- STORAGE: Give your jewels a safe home! Store jewellery in the original box or pouch, in a cool dry place, this is the best way to prevent oxidization, tarnishing and damage when not being worn.
We are committed to using high quality, affordable materials. Please follow instructions to ensure you can continue to wear your Junk Jewels pieces time and time again.
Over time, platings may fade. Please do not shower with your items. If your items do begin to tarnish, this can be caused by a metal-to-skin oil reaction. As each person's body oils make different metals react differently, it is not our responsibility to return or exchange your item.
We do offer a repair service at a small fee to restore your piece to new from £8.75 + pp.
